Roman Jug textiles He wanted the vessel toThis sculpture is made from a large elm burl. It was made by mounting the wood to a traditional wood lathe and turning it off centre. The natural edge of the burl gives the vase the look that something is missing or broken away, giving the sculpture the look of an Ancient Roman jug that has just been excavated. The vase is all handmade, using an additional woodturning tool to slowly carve away pieces, in the hope that the vase looks completely
