An Egyptian White Glass Eye Inlay, New Kingdom, 18th Dynasty, ca. 1550 - 1295 BCE Sculpture - Stone acquired from Fernando Flores &An almond shaped left eye, the white glass sclera hand polished to a soft sheen and flattened at the center to accept a black pupil inlay, usually carved from obsidian. During the New Kingdom, inner anthropoid coffins were painstakingly carved from wood and featured eyes and eyebrows inlaid from precious materials such as obsidian, alabaster, and colored glass.
