本作は、木の板を透かし彫りにして獅子と牡丹を表現した欄間です。獅子は荒彫りと細彫りを使い分けて毛並みを、牡丹は花弁の凹凸で立体感を出しています。

発掘品のため瓶内部に固形化した土が残留していますが、資料的価値を考慮して、そのままにしてあります。
