The important thing about mana abilities is that they dont use the stack, so they cant be responded to even if they have additional effects (like gaining life or drawing cards) which feel like they should be going through the stack

As it costs at least seven mana you have to replace top end with it rather than mid level cards and that makes your deck significantly less threat dense
